:: MIR :: Goals
MIR advocates systematic change to WVU's governance to overcome the
enormous, negative, long-term
impact of the flawed leadership that
produced the Bresch debacle and to
ensure WVU's future as a respected
academic institution.
MIR calls for:
1. Resignation of President Mike Garrison. Goal achieved as of June 6, 2008.
2. Appointment of a qualified successor
3. Change of laws on WVU governance
Regardless of the extent of his direct
involvement, the highly publicized
award of an unearned eMBA degree
on President Garrison's watch has
undermined his effectiveness as
president. We doubt that WVU can
restore its academic integrity under
his leadership.
WVU needs a new president who
possesses a track record of
academic administration.
The procedures for selecting the
president and members of the BOG must
be de-politicized. We must prioritize
academic administration and leadership.
